Southern Dutchess Concert Band

Greetings, current and potential Southern Dutchess Concert Band members!

Southern Dutchess Concert Band will be starting up in two months for our Summer 2019 season and you're invited! We'll be rehearsing on Thursday evenings starting May 23rd and we have eight concerts scheduled. All community musicians (high school or older) are welcome, so please forward this to anyone else who might be interested. We'll be performing challenging and crowd-pleasing show tunes, popular standards, marches, light classical and wind ensemble music. See below for
the list of what we'll be playing. It's lots of fun, there aren't any auditions, and the more the merrier!

Nick Sowul, Dover High School band director, will be our main conductor and John Knight, retired Hyde Park band director, will conduct when Nick is busy. The income we get from our concerts covers renting the Fishkill Recreation Center for our rehearsals.

(FYI, Wappingers Community Day is moving to the 4th of July weekend when lots of us are already busy)

I know that summertime is when lots of people take vacation and are otherwise busy, but if you can join us for just part of the summer or if you have to miss a bunch of dates, that would be fine, just let me know your schedule ahead of time. After we start up, I'll send emails to only those people who attend or who have emailed me that they're interested. If you'll be attending for the first time, please email me and I'll make sure there's a music folder for you. If you played last year but can't play this year, please let me know.

I've scanned in all the parts to all the pieces in our folders, so I can email you pdfs of any parts you'd like to practice. If you'd like any of your parts before our first rehearsal, just let me know.

We hope to see you on May 23rd at the Fishkill Recreation Center! Remember your instrument and a music stand. As usual, I'll bring homemade brownies!

Fishkill Recreation Center: The Fishkill Recreation Center is on Route 52 less than a 1/2 mile southwest of the intersection with Interstate 84 (Exit 12). It's near the 84 Diner, on that the same side of the road, next to the Fishkill Police Department which is next to Fishkill Town Hall. The sign for the Recreation Center at the road is electronic and it doesn't always display "Recreation Center", so turn in at the same place that says "Police Department: Town Of Fishkill". Once you turn in, the Police building is on the right and the Recreation Center is on the left. Get directions here:
