RCSD Plans to Open Schools and Conduct Classes on Monday, March 5, After the Severe Weather on Friday, March 2
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As of Sunday evening, March 4, the Rhinebeck Central School District is planning to open tomorrow morning, Monday, March 5th, following the severe weather event this past Friday. Both of our schools have electricity and heat and are ready to greet our students and engage them meaningfully in school tomorrow.
Please be aware that while most roads in our school district are passable, several roads are still blocked at various points. However, all of them appear to have safe ways for detouring around any impediments in order to access our two school buildings in Rhinebeck. As of late this afternoon, the following roads had been reported to us by the Dutchess County Emergency Management Office to have issues that may interfere with the school bus routes tomorrow morning: Morton Road, Russell Avenue, Old Post Road, Kansas Road, Frost Road, and Pells Road.
Total Transportation's bus drivers know their students' routes well and will do their best to navigate the roads to pick up all students. However, based upon each family's unique situation, parents may decide to meet their child's bus at the nearest intersection, or consider detouring around any remaining obstacles and driving their children to school. Thank you in advance for your patience with any delays.
Additional bus route information may be forthcoming as the situation develops. Please check back for he possibility of further updates tomorrow morning.
