Rhinebeck Board of Education Establishes District Goals for 2017-18
At the August 8, 2017 meeting of the Rhinebeck Central School District Board of Education, the Board members unanimously approved the following goals for the Board and the school district for the current school year:
1. Long Range Planning: The Board will work to understand and address the challenges of declining enrollment and attaining financial stability. In the first-year of this multi-year goal, the Board will engage the school community and the community-at- large in providing feedback regarding a preferred and sustainable model of educational programming, while projecting fiscal assumptions and enrollment data over a 3-5 year period in support of the development of the 2018-19 proposed school budget. In year two, the Board will complete the long-range plan, to be updated annually.
2. Technology Integration Across the K-12 Curriculum: The Board will conclude its study of progress made within the District towards its goal of technology integration across the K-12 curriculum, with a focus on assessing skills at each grade level. Since the implementation of the CELT Audit recommendations in 2013-14, which charted a direction for a District-wide technology plan, the Board will examine how effectively technology education standards are being met and make recommendations on how to respond to gaps in integration.
3. Social and Emotional Wellness of Our Students: The Board will continue to work with the school community to assess students' social-emotional health and well- being. Consulting broadly with teachers, administrators, staff, parents and, most importantly, students, the Board will report on its findings, with the goal of identifying student wellness needs and potential ways to address them.
