Power Outages on Monday, Sept 19 Restored at All RCSD Buildings; CLS Fire Alarm Addressed by Rhinebeck Fire Department
At approximately 7:15 am Monday, September 19, 2016, both school buildings in the Rhinebeck Central School District experienced a partial power outage, leaving some classrooms and other areas with full power, some with partial power, and others with no power. Since students were already on school buses and staff were en route or already in the buildings, classes at BMS & RHS were started on time, in anticipation that Central Hudson would have power restored later in the morning.
Concurrently, a burned-out motor occurred at CLS around 8:20 am, with odor and light smoke, due to this morning's Central Hudson power issues. CLS was evacuated per the building's alarm system, although most students had not yet arrived. Rhinebeck FD firefighters arrived and eventually cleared the building as safe for occupancy. Walkers were admitted. Buses, which had been temporarily queued up at BMS/RHS until the fire apparatus was moved from the CLS bus drop off area, were unloaded, as power was being restored across both campuses at approximately 9:00 am.
District servers were rebooted at approximately 10:00 am, thus the timing of this posting, and the academic schedule is proceeding normally at this point in time.
