Please welcome John Hanley as the district’s director of facilities.
“I’m very happy here,” he said. “It’s nice coming to work every day and I enjoy being here. I’m still getting to know all the buildings and everyone involved, but I’ve really enjoyed it so far.”
Hanley shared his plan in the coming months and years for the department.
“Just keeping improving our facilities, keep improving our buildings, keep finding ways to be more efficient in the job we do and keep improving at all times,” he said. “I have some really good people; I’m very happy with the staff I have. I see good things now, not just in the future.”
Hanley previously served in the same role for one year at Rondout Valley schools. He worked at Onteora schools as a maintenance mechanic for six years and assistant director of facilities for two years. Hanley started his professional career in the plumbing and heating field for almost 20 years.
“John has been great,” said Thomas Burnell, Rhinebeck’s assistant superintendent for support services. “He’s really getting to learn the school district, not only the facilities but the personnel. He’s very spirited and a great addition to our crew.”
Hanley is originally from Kingston and has lived in Hurley for the last 19 years. The father of three enjoys fishing, camping, hiking, softball and working out.
“I think we’ve gotten off to a great start since he started here,” said Katherine Mustello, secretary to the director of facilities and operations. “John has fit in really well. He gets along with everybody. He’s happy to listen and learn which is very much appreciated.”
