Dear all,
Earlier today, the faculty and professional staff joined together to officially kick off the 2024-2025 school year. Tomorrow morning, we will welcome our Pre-K to 12th grade students back to classes. Our buildings and campus are ready, the hallways are gleaming, schedules are set, and we are enthusiastic and positive about the start of a new year.
As we settle in, please be patient while we work through the nuances of technology, new schedules, and new routines. I hope that with understanding and empathetic communication we will all start the year with smiles and confidence knowing that all will be great. I am confident that our faculty, staff and school leaders are prepared and excited to support a smooth and inspiring opening to the school year.
New Faculty at RCSD
Please take some time to meet the newest members of the Rhinebeck faculty. Photos and short bios can be found here: Rhinebeck New Teachers
We also welcome Dan Pietrafesa, a Dutchess BOCES Public Information Officer who will be with us on a part-time basis to help in our communication goals and to capture and report on our many wonderful moments.
District Calendar
A new partnership with the Dutchess BOCES Communications team has allowed us to return to a printed calendar for this year. Copies of that will be available for pickup after the first day of school or at each Back to School Night. For your convenience, a PDF of the calendar can be found here and on the website: 2024-25 RCSD Calendar.
Social Media Presence
If you are a Facebook user, consider following RCSD on Facebook, where there have been, and will be, more frequent posts featuring our staff and students.
Changes in 2024-2025
There are many exciting new elements that have come to fruition based on feedback from stakeholders, after years of analysis, and through the courage of our staff. We believe in continuous improvement and growth and below is a short list of improvements to get excited about in the new year:
- the new schedule at Rhinebeck High School, one that provides for longer instructional blocks and a community lunch for all, each day;
- our first Pre-K classroom, operated by Rhinebeck Community Nursery School, hosted at CLS;
- the first beds of a school garden, created locally, were placed and filled at CLS, initiating the start of a grand vision;
- a renovated fitness center on the BMS/RHS campus;
- new classroom libraries in all grade levels and all classrooms at CLS;
- new opportunities for students to perform at BMS with newly founded Drama Club;
- new classroom furniture for remaining 3rd and 4th grade classes;
- BMS gymnasium refreshed with new “Home of the Hawks” branding.
Our fall JV and Varsity athletes have been off and running, the HS fall play will be kicking into high gear right away, and soon we will be enjoying the buzz of excitement from our students in our schools. I am very much looking forward to feeling the synergy and energy that only comes when students walk back through our doors. Each professional in the district is dedicated to collaborating with families to improve the lives, learning, confidence and pride of children.
All my best,
Albert
