Dear Parents, Welcome to my home page. Third grade is an exciting year because it's the time your child learns to write their name in cursive, will become secure in math skills that they will use for the rest of their lives, and have an opportunity daily to be part of the most excitng process that learning can be. We come together in ways that is like a beautifully choreographed ballet. There are times when the classroom is alive with an energy that is palpable and can be described as sheer joy. The most amazing thing is that everyone is aware of it and so is anyone who walks into the space. I truly love everything about third grade. The writing process allows the children to express themselves in ways that are interesting, funny, and thoughtful. Stories we read aloud might lead to a special day of celebration. (Please see the Gooney Bird Greene pictures on another page.) There are amazing "ah-ha" moments where I can see a child's puzzled look turn into one of real understanding. We call these "lightbulb" moments. Each month you can look at this site to see what has been happening in our classroom and what will be happening in the upcoming weeks.
