Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

We are now entering our third quarter! It is so hard to believe that we are halfway done!  We continue to charge on and through our curriculum to get ready for the next challenge-First Grade!  Our next two quarters will be wonderful, with so many fun activities and a lot of growth!  However, this is also the time that we, as a school and a grade level, start looking ahead.

Kindergarten registration for the 2012-2013 school year has now begun.  We have set aside time in May to hold our annual Kindergarten Screening.  If you are planning to attend kindergarten next year, please contact Mrs. Maryann Bovee at 845-871-5570 ext. 5560.  You can also register online. I have a few links posted below.  Please consider registering early as this will give us a better idea of how many kindergartners we will be expecting in the new school year.  It is always helpful to have an accurate count so that we have all the supplies that we need for the children, as well as enough days to schedule our kindergarten screening.

Kindergarten is an exciting time in a child's life! Kindergartners know that they are beginning something special. They are usually excited and ready to take on the challenge. However, some students are nervous and may be frightened.  Please take some time to go through my web pages with your child so that he/she may see and hear about all the wonderful things we do in kindergarten. Read some of the books on my book list so that your child will become familiar with some stories they will hear in kindergarten.  Look at some of the videos so that they will see happy, smiling children having fun and learning.  Be sure to stop by some of the other kindergarten teacher's web pages as well.

Finally, as a parent you may have questions about kindergarten. You may have concerns about whether your child is ready for kindergarten. If you do, I hope you will attend the information session that Mr. King will be offering in the upcoming weeks!  Also, if I can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about kindergarten (to the best of my abilities).  On MY RESOURCE page, I have a link to the Common Core State Standards for NY. Please take some time to read through them to become familiar with kindergarten expectations.  We are so lucky that our district has a full day kindergarten program in which we can dedicate ourselves to building both social/emotional and academic growth!

Enjoy your children! They are amazing!
