“The 11th Annual Rhinebeck Central School District Art Show At Montgomery Row”

May 1  – May 31, 2017

May 1 - May 31, 2017 – Montgomery Row Second Level, 6423 Montgomery Street, Rhinebeck, NY. Join us for the eleventh annual group exhibition of works by students attending Rhinebeck Central School District located at Montgomery Row Second Level. Open to the public Monday-Sunday 9am-6pm. For more information, contact Sue at 845.876.0543 or visit www.montgomeryrow.com.

WHO:  Rhinebeck Central School art students from grades K through 12 present a body of work containing a variety of media used in their academic classes. This show highlights works of art by students studying with Fawn Johnson (CLS), Jennifer Famiglietti (BMS), and Kathryn Giles and Cynthia Baer (RHS). These works show the expertise and diversity students gain as they study art within Rhinebeck Central Schools’ arts curriculum as well as the faculty’s creativity in developing artistic talent.

WHAT:  This exhibit provides a montage of creative experiences Rhinebeck Central School students in grades K through 12 are exposed to as they participate in Rhinebeck’s course offerings. This collection of student work includes still life, portrait, landscape, and abstract works. While the works reflect the students’ proficiency in using mixed media, drawing (pencil or charcoal), pastel, mosaics, and acrylic painting, they also reflect the themes and interests of the individual student. Some themes reflect local themes while others show students’ developing self-awareness or substantiate students’ understanding of balancing the elements and principles of art.

WHY:  As budget line items for education continue to cut, it is more important than ever to see first hand the results of our educational dollars at work and the importance of art inclusion within the public school system. In Rhinebeck, art teachers draw out their students’ talents within a structured environment encouraging growth and maturation and a pathway to find their voice through art.

WHERE: Montgomery Row Second Level is located at Montgomery Row, 6423 Montgomery Street (Route 9), Rhinebeck.

School course selection interviews for current 8th grade students will begin shortly.  Your son/daughter will be given an appointment with his/her School Counselor in the High School Guidance Office to develop a four-year plan.   Appointments will be scheduled beginning in April and continue through June.

You are invited to attend this meeting and are encouraged to participate in the planning process.  If you are unable to attend the scheduled appointment, please contact the High School Guidance Office for a more convenient date and/or time.

If you cannot attend, your son/daughter will bring home a four-year plan.  Please review this plan carefully and discuss the options and opportunities available to your child.  You are asked to sign the four-year plan and have your child return it to the High School Guidance Office as soon as possible.
