October 6, 2005
Members present: Lancto, Sutherland,
Gideon, Murphy, Saxena, A., Saxena,
P., Volin, Boolukos, McLoughlin, Tannenbaum
- Members
introduced themselves.
- We
reviewed the mission of the BLPT, and understood that its mission was to
support student achievement and the implementation of school and district
mission. Its role is in an advisory
capacity, and this advice is typically influential.
- We
reviewed the proposal for signs indicating our status as a drug free,
alcohol free, and tobacco free facility.
Members suggested that the Board of Education be noted at the
bottom of the sign as the authors of this statement. Davenport
will review with Central Office.
- We
scheduled our future meetings. All
will take place at 4:00 in the
library and will last approximately one and a half hours. The dates are: October 27, December 1, January 5, February 2, March 2,
March 30, April 27, May 25, and June 8.
- We
discussed team objectives for this school year. We agreed on limiting the number, and we
agreed on the following tentative objectives: review of the open campus policy,
investigation of incorporating mentors into our upper level program of
studies as well as adding to our hardware, developing positive recognition
processes for students, and organizing an assembly “clearinghouse” to
review and recommend assembly programs for students. In addition, Davenport
asked for the team’s help in reviewing the code of conduct and the program
of studies.
- Volin will attempt to gather open campus data for our
review; Lancto will investigate the feasibility
of involving mentors in our program; all members will consider what sorts
of positive behavior recognition processes to suggest at our next meeting.
- The
meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
