John Murphy has done the legwork, phone calls etc. and currently at same stage of development as this application was in February of 2003.  Mr. Murphy will approach the Superintendent and the Board of Education for separate referral letters for the Town Supervisor and the Mayor.  Upon receipt of these referral letters, the Town Supervisor/Mayor would create the Drug Free School Committee.  Some RHS BLPT  members to also be on this committee.  That committee to discuss the dimensions of the Drug Free Zones, and inclusionary areas. Students Signing Out During the School Day:

¨      Mrs. Volin’s statistics were distributed. (See Attached)

¨      Other School Sign-Out Policies distributed (See Attached)

Discussion Followed:

¨      Approximately ¼ of the students in Grade 11 and Grade 12 sign-out.

¨      Mr. Alban suggested we ask Guidance Dept. why students have so many study halls, especially in grades 9 and 10.

¨      It was pointed out that some students want to do the bare minimum (required courses), hence the study halls.

¨      Ask Guidance if there are other choices/options of courses vs. study halls.

¨      Sign-out policies from other schools were reviewed and compared to ours.

¨      Suggested that at next meeting a H.S. guidance counselor attend and make presentation of school requirements/course options and answer questions.

After School Program:

¨      Spoke to Mr. Keefe, and he feels that it is a Modified Basketball problem.

¨      In regards to number of students, he believes that you are talking about 15 students.

¨      Students walk to Chancellor at approximately 3:15 PM.

¨      Essentially a Middle School issue.

¨      Mr. Lezon to speak with Dr. Sagan.
